Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima Chaloem Phra Kiat, Nong Bun Mak, Khon Buri and Pak Thong Chai.
The district is subdivided into 10 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 128 villages (muban). There are three subdistrict municipalities (thesaban tambon) within the district - Chok Chai covering parts of the tambon Chok Chai and Krathok, Dan Kwian covering parts of tambon Dan Kwian and Tha Ang and Tha Yiam covering the whole tambon Tha Yiam.
